A two night stay half way between Brugge and Ghent. Noting it was a holiday weekend prices nearby were at silly heights hence our choice of Aalter. Be careful with car parking as part of space directly opposite the hotel is unavailable on Saturday afternoons so ensure you plan accordingly.

Nice clean hotel, but with a parking problem...

We got checked-in quickly, our room was large and clean, with everything we needed. I liked the toilet being in a separate room to the bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was the best continental breakfast I think I've had in a European hotel. There was loads of different stuff, even salmon and it was all fresh. Prices are reasonable for the standard of accommodation offered.
Parking Warning
If you are staying one night only, parking is not a problem as you get 4hrs free and overnight free in the "parking disc" car park in front of the hotel. If you are staying longer than a night, you have to move your car before 9am the following morning (after the first night). There is no option to pay for additional parking time in the car park in front of the hotel. As far as we could see, there is little to no pay-for-parking in the whole town, which is extremely inconvenient. While this is not the hotel's fault directly, it is very inconvenient if you are travelling by car.

Enroute syop for the Channel

Good enroute stop to/from Channel and Netherlands, Ardennes of Germany. A short distance from the main road, but you cannot hear the traffic. Short walk to a range of restaurants. Clean and comfortable with ample public parking comfortably close.

Fairly good hotel

It's a fairly modern hotel. It is located a few kilometers from the motorway and on the outskirts of the town of Aalter half an hour's drive from Bruges. But also just a few hundred meters from a nice town square with the necessary restaurants.
Our room (standard room, no. 202) was on the cramped side. I have my doubts whether this one will reach the promised 25m2. The beds were fine.
The bathroom looked neat with a large walk-in shower, which can be closed with a curtain. That's kind of handy. Otherwise, the bathroom after the first shower is soaking wet.
Everything is clean and tidy in the hotel. There's air conditioning, but we didn't need it.
Breakfast is good but not excellent. It consists of many pre-packaged goods. The main ingredients for the savory eater are fortunately available: various cheeses and cold cuts and hard-boiled eggs (to be prepared yourself). There was also smoked salmon. And there was an automatic fried eggs baker. Never seen it before. This one did an excellent job. The coffee from the coffee machine was also excellent.
Breakfast is until 09:30 on weekdays and 10:30 on weekends. Normally we are used to someone from the waitstaff coming over to tell us that the buffet is about to close. But not here. A curtain for the entrance door was lowered and that's it.
The free car park in front of the hotel has ample spaces. You only need a parking disc for a maximum of 4 hours of parking (except Sundays). If you want to park longer, you have to divert to the parking lot at the town hall (about 500m walk).
But..... there is one flaw (you). There are prohibition signs everywhere: this is not allowed, it is not allowed. It does give clarity, but it makes an unhospitable impression. We don't think that suits a 4* hotel.

thank you for the review.
The advertised room space is as advertised, feel free to measure it next time you come. :-)
As for the signs, we understand the frustration and we are also not a big fan of it, but it is a necessity:
before we had our toilet signs up, we had people lined up from the toilets until the entrance, impacting both costumer satisfaction and our ability to provide a service, thus such a sign was needed.
We had to put up signs everywhere in the breakfast area to not take food/drinks outside of the breakfast area, as we had people coming in with picnic baskets to fill up and take with them, so we'd provide breakfast for 40 persons and before the first 15 came, everything was gone and packed by the people.
Same with the sign for the backpacks/luggage/..... we had people quite literally empty out baskets into their backpacks.
Sadly, the side of the hotel is never asked for, thus why we want to enlighten you on this!
