Saint Vincent, capital of Cabo Verdean culture and music! 5 stars that are the famous beer of Cape Verde.

Hotel Belvedere, also known as Pombas Brancas, is located in a high and quiet area, with excellent views of the city and Mindelo bay.
We went to a group of friends from the Azores, with the goal of seeing the famous Carnival in São Vicente, as it is sung by the beautiful music of the great Cesária Évora, São Vicente is a Brazilian, full of joy and color.
Despite being half an hour walk from the center of Mindelo, you can easily get by taxi or van for a price of 2€.
The rooms have a balcony with a superb view of the entire Mindelo bay and are facing the west allowing you to observe an excellent sunset.
In addition, the people who work at the Hotel are very friendly and always ready for any request.
The Group, loved and puts the chance to repeat.

Not our taste of accommodation

Spectacular stunning views aside, this hotel is a major disappointment and nowhere near a luxury experience.
The location is extremely impractical far from the harbour and requiring a long, exhausting climb up countless steep stairs. This alone makes it unsuitable for anyone seeking comfort, ease, or mobility-friendly access. The so-called “suite” offered by Expedia was shockingly basic and barely reaches a 3-star standard. Staff were polite but clearly under-resourced. The receptionist although kind and sweet, could not assist with luggage despite the endless stairs; we were only helped thanks to our driver. She also recommended Caravello for dinner, which turned out to be an awful choice — a fast-food-style place aimed at budget diners, with little concern for hygiene, nutrition, or quality. Absolutely not suitable for anyone who cares about healthy or decent food.
Amenities are minimal. The swimming pool is a tiny pond, but enabled us to sunbathe. Breakfast was mediocre and ends at 11am, and there is no food or drink service at all during the day, which is unacceptable and says everything about the level of service.
This property feels geared towards backpackers and budget travellers, not guests expecting comfort or refinement. Toiletries were sparse, towels and pillows had to be requested on arrival, and the bed was uncomfortable, the mattress aggravated my sciatica. The reception area itself is tiny, unwelcoming, and poorly presented. In summary: beautiful views, poor hotel. I would not return and would strongly advise travellers seeking comfort, service, or luxury to look elsewhere. Not suitable for handicapped or disabled clients

The view from Belvedere is breathtaking, but the property is extremely far from the harbour and involves a long, tiring trek with countless stairs. The room, although described as a suite, is very basic and more in line with a 3-star standard at best. The staff did try to help, but their capacity was limited. The receptionist was unable to assist with luggage despite the many stairs; fortunately, our driver helped us. She also recommended a restaurant on arrival which turned out to be dreadful — essentially fast food for locals. It was dirty, unhealthy, and completely unsuitable. The swimming pool is tiny, though at least it allowed for some sunbathing. Breakfast was mediocre and ends at 11am. There is no food or drink service available during the day, which is unacceptable and reflects a general lack of service. The hotel feels more suited to backpackers and budget travellers — certainly not our taste and absolutely not luxury. Toiletries were minimal, towels and pillows had to be requested upon arrival (thankfully I had my own toiletries), and the bed was uncomfortable — the mattress triggered my sciatica.
The reception itself is tiny, almost like a mouse hole, and unwelcoming. In short, aside from the spectacular views, I would not stay here again. This hotel is not for me or my husband.

Located in the hills the hotel is fairly nice.
Good view on Mindelo.
Nice staff with prompt reaction in their communication.
Good view, good breakfast.
The property is downhill a 15 minutes walk to Laginha beach.

Very good value for money

Exceptional welcome in this charming hotel. The staff is available and ready to respond to all our requests ( thank you for the daily taxi reservations)
The place is quiet and has stunning views of Mindelo. We feasted on the many sunsets.
The rooms are simple but clean and functional. The air conditioning and Wifi work perfectly. Breakfast is simple but hearty.
Thank you for your stay.
