Untrained staff
When we arrived, there was only one person in the Hotel Bar and there was a person was checking in.
What amazed me was that the whole process took 15 minutes to check in one person. After 15 minutes the barmaid took our order! I would really have cared if the hotel bar was full but we were the only people in the place.
At about 9pm I wanted to settle the bill and was informed that payment by card could not be accepted, ( I know this is a lie as I visit the hotel every week and pay with a card). I was then informed that somebody elses bill would be added to the payment and the balance would be given to me in cash from the cashbox. This I refused to do and I made it clear to the barmaid that I would only pay for drinks and food that we had consumed, anything that she wanted to add was of no interest to me.
The card payment system came to life by somekind of miracle and my payment was processed without any problems. However the receptionist would only give me the payment confimation from the creditcard company and not the receipt which is a legal requirement for all transactions in the Czech Republic. After some arguing the reciept was thrust in my general direction and I was informed that I was behaving impolitely and that if I wanted to turn on the TV in the lobby bar then I should ask, the TV was already on when we arrived. Perhaps if I want to use the toilet I should also ask?
The staff in particular the person who was serving that evening needs to consider if a career in hospitality is the right thing for them given the disorganisation, rudeness and slovenly behaviour that I encountered yesterday evening.
