Delicious stopover on GR 50 or 54

A lovely gite with beautiful rooms, a nice breakfast, and a very tasty dinner. We enjoyed it. The best stopover on GR 50 or 54 and close to the route. There is also a lovely ice cream van from these friendly operators.

Great Alpine Hotel

When the Tour de France route was published in November last year I identified Le Rebanchon as the hotel I wanted to stay in for a stage in the Alps. I booked through hotels.com - only mistake made, book directly!
We arrived having booked two rooms but hotels.com (Expedia company) had only told them we needed one room. they were full but, luckily, had a three-person room they could give us. Not perfect but OK in the circumstances.
The new owners, Stephanie and Vincent, were learning the ropes from retiring owners Charleric and Jocelyn. Stephanie is British and her English helped get all problems resolved quickly and efficiently.
We had dinner there the first night, lasagne for the communal dining table (plus a veggie one for my wife), preceded by a salad, the followed by delicious cheese and traditional Alpine Tart (made with myrtle, I believe). All really good, and accompanied by a good bottle of wine at a very reasonable price. The rare experience of sitting down to eat with strangers was an utter delight, with people from the Netherlands and Denmark either side of us. A good time was had by all. We followed dinner with a walk through the fields nearby.
The rooms are very nice, but it is to be hoped that wifi reaches the attic level soon ... lol! If we needed to get online we went into the stone-walled lounge with it mysterious smoky black ceiling. The mystery was solved when I read it had once been the village bakery!
The setting, opposite the old mill where two alpine rivers meet forcefully, was gorgeous, with the sound of tumbling water our nighttime lullaby!
Stephanie's presence will make this even more welocming to non-French speakers, so don't be afraid to book, whether for winter skiing or summer biking/hiking. It a lovely hotel, with great people, set in a perfect location!

Adapté pour les randonneurs, bcp moins pour les familles

Très bonne localisation. Établissement adapté pour une étape de randonneurs (formule demi-pension avec dîner qualitatif), beaucoup moins pour un séjour famille : pas de tarif enfants, chambre quintuple tout en longueur (un couloir sous les combles, pas de photo de celle-ci sur les sites). Erreur de facture laissée sans réponse (taxe de séjour facturée 2 fois).

Nous sommes venus entre amis pour l Étape du Tour le 10.7.22. Bilan : un séjour génial chez Charleric et Jocelyne.
Gîte très mignon, très propre et confortable et les hôtes aux petits soins pour leurs clients.
Nourriture de qualité aussi.
Ambiance vraiment conviviale.
J aurais volontiers gardé ce genre d adresses pour moi si mon envie de les remercier pour ce séjour n avait pas été la plus forte :)
