A quiet peaceful stay

The hotel is just under new management, our booking was honoured although made with the previous manager. We were met by Chris and Suzi and shown to our rooms. I say rooms as we had a choice of which one we preferred! The one chosen looked out over the front, was clean comfortable, warm and of a good size. Only bed and breakfast was available as the new landlords were just in the process of getting the place up and running. This did not worry us as we were visiting family locally and just used the hotel overnight. The breakfasts were lovely, with a good choice of food from the buffet. Rotenburg AD Fulda has a good Christmas market and range of other shops covering most needs. The hotel has only one disadvantage as far as I can see, it's location, just a bit too far to walk to town, but no problem at all if you have you own transport, or prepared to take taxi's. We would quite happily stay here again.

Amazing hidden gem

We found this beautiful place purely by coincidence. However, arriving at Hof Guttels is like being taken 300 years back in history - in the most positive sense you could think.
This place is as romantic as it gets. Based on an ancient timbered construction, Hof Guttels looks like something taken right out of a Disney movie. What's more, Alex - the manager of the place - and his Brazilian wife were the perfect hosts, arranging a late beer as we arrived well after dark, and a gorgeous breakfast.
Don't press yourself speeding through Germany - with Hof Guttels, you've got the perfect stop on the way!

Total geschockt

Katastrophe!
Die Bilder ( booking) entsprechen nicht der Warheit, eine total verwohntes und abgeranzte Unterkunft. Sowas darf man noch nicht einmal ansatzweise Hotel nennen.
Von Sauberkeit keine Spur. Schon im Eingangsbereich Dreckwäsche, und auf Anfrage nach Kaffee, ne total versiffte Kaffeekanne und schlecht gewordene Milch..
Gleicht eher einer Hippie Kommune.
Wir haben nach Ansicht der unteren Räumlichkeiten sofort storniert, und anderweitig übernachtet.

Nicht noch einmal.

Wir waren über das Wochenende im Ferienhaus des Hof Guttels. Von außen ein schönes Fachwerkhaus mitten im Wald gelegen, aber was uns innen erwartete ging eigentlich überhaupt nicht. Schmutziger Gesamtzustand und alte abgewohnte Möbel sowie Küchengeräte. Ein Bad, welches sicherlich in den 70er Jahren als gut angesehen wurde, muss sowas von renoviert werden. Insgesamt haben wir pro Tag 130 € gezahlt und dafür erwarte ich einen gewissen Standard, der hier aber definitv nicht vorhanden war. Zumal das Ferienhaus einen gewissen Charme hat und man daher auch einiges mehr drauß machen könnte.
Das Haupthaus ist soweit in Ordnung und eigentlich gemütlich. Leider war das Restaurant geschlossen. Das Frühstück war fast perfekt, konnte aber nicht über die angesprochenen störenden Punkte hinweghelfen. Daher leider nur ein mangelhaft. Schade

Eine Entdeckung außerhalb des Mainstreams

Ich habe dort eine Nacht übernachtet und mich wegen der Ruhe und der besonders Gastfreundschaftlichen Atmosphäre sehr Wohlgefüht. Die Pension befindet sich in einem alten Fachwerkhaus, welche eine ganz besonderes Ambiente bietet.
DAs Zimmer, mit etwas älteren Möbeln, war pieksauber. Mit Kerzen, etwas Deko und einer Flasche Wasser aus dem hauseigenen Brunnen bot es eine sehr gute Übernachtung.
Das Frühstück war das Beste, welches ich jemals in einem Hotel bekommen habe. Liebevoll angerichtete und frische Köstlichkeiten, Saft, Rührei und Blumendeko frisch aus dem Kräutergarten lagen auf einer nur für mich zusammengestellten Platte.
Richtig herzlich und freundschaftlich war auch die Begrüßung und Betreuung durch den Pächter.
Das Restaurant ist derzeit nicht geöffnet, aber dies ist nicht in der Verantwortung der Pächter.
Es gibt kein Handynetz, was ich sehr entspannend fand, WLAN ist vorhanden, aber man kann an diesem besonderen Ort gut darauf verzichten.
Die nächste Übernachtung ist schon angefragt und dies mal bleibe ich zwei Nächte, damit ich auch mal den toll angelegten Garten genießen kann.
Fazit: absolut empfehlenswert, diese Location ist Brüder Grimm Land pur!
