Good overnight location in transit
Great stopover hotel passing through to the south. Schloss Lautrach is mainly used as a conference venue. Appearance of an estate, furnished without adornment. Here and here still historical details. Tunnel with its old maps nice to look at.
The hotel has a garden and you can also take a longer walk in the immediate vicinity.
The welcome was prompt and friendly. Our room was not large but clean and quiet. Great bed and good shower.
We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening. Not much choice, but the food was good and the price was not so bad. Luckily we could eat on the terrace because our dog was not allowed in the restaurant. Because of this we had to have breakfast in the room in the morning. Breakfast offered plenty of choice. Not a very atmospheric restaurant, but fitting for a conference location.
For a short stay this is a more than fine hotel. Not very expensive, quiet location, possibility to recharge the car and rested again further travel. Dogs are welcome, but not in the restaurant. The latter I could not find anywhere on the website.

Idyllic castle hotel in the Allgäu
As great fans of castles, we have stayed in quite a few – and Schloss Lautrach truly impressed us.
The beautiful castle from the 18th century has a very special atmosphere. In many places, you can still feel the historical character of the house, which made our stay particularly special. A real highlight for us was the castle's own theater with the antique wallpapers – you really don't see something like that often - like a little time travel. We had a deluxe room right in the castle, overlooking the garden.
The room felt freshly renovated and we immediately felt comfortable there. We would also like to particularly highlight the very good four-course dinner and the great breakfast.
The service was top-notch throughout our entire stay – friendly, attentive, and very dedicated. We felt completely at ease and would love to come back.

Historic setting, practical comfort, ideal stop on the way to Austria
We stayed at Hotel Schloss Lautrach as a stopover on our drive from Belgium to Austria, and it proved to be a very solid choice. This four star hotel is set in an 18th century hunting lodge in the Allgäu region of Bavaria. The setting, surrounded by parkland and gardens, immediately creates a sense of calm after a long day on the road.
Arrival feels more like entering a private country estate than a standard hotel. Parking is easy and free, directly next to the building. For electric vehicles, there are four Type 2 charging points for overnight charging.
We stayed in a Deluxe Room, which we would recommend. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, combining historic character with modern comfort. Beds were good, Wi-Fi worked well, and blackout curtains ensured a quiet night. The view over the castle park added to the experience. There is no minibar in the room, but each floor has large fridges with free chilled water, in addition to the water provided in the room. The bathroom is compact, but clean and functional, with a good shower.
Breakfast is served in the Schloss restaurant and offers a selection with classic items and regional products. In the evening, half board is organised as a four course menu with salad, soup, main course and dessert. During our stay, choices included venison, fish and a vegetarian option, all correctly prepared. Service was attentive throughout.
The hotel also offers a Beerstube and a wine cellar. These spaces give the hotel more character than a simple stopover property. The Beerstube is cosy and informal, ideal for a beer. The wine cellar focuses on regional wines and a broader European selection. In warmer months, the terrace in the castle garden is likely to be the highlight.
Overall, Hotel Schloss Lautrach works very well as a quality stopover hotel and also as a base to explore the Allgäu region.

Nice place to stay, but not a four star hotel, as the hotel claims. Rooms were simple, garden not very well kept, We had dinner at the hotel, we got an over cooked tuna, so not very impressed with the food. Breakfast was ok.

Pretty castle, otherwise disappointing
Hotel Schloss Lautach
Impressive castle in a somewhat elevated location in the middle of the village. The reception was friendly, however, we were very disappointed with the "Deluxe" room we booked.
We had been assigned a tiny broom closet where the beds would have required gymnastics, because one side of the double bed was against a wall. In addition, roof beams posed a significant risk of injury during these gymnastics.
The pictures shown on the website for "Deluxe," which suggested spaciousness, only apply to two rooms! All other "Deluxe" rooms were significantly smaller and tighter; they had nothing to do with the attractive pictures on the website.
So, back to the reception. However, they could not offer us any other "Deluxe" room there, only a Superior room. They did meet us halfway on the price for that.
The room was about the same size as the "Deluxe" room, and the amenities were also very similar. Conclusion: The surcharge for "Deluxe" is only worth it if you actually manage to get one of the two large rooms.
The bathroom in all rooms can only be reached via steps, which may be stylish, but is somehow idiotic. The floor in the bathroom is covered with glass.
The television was tiny, significantly smaller than a computer monitor. But there is no carpet in the room, which is great.
The hotel is located in a quiet park - except for the fact that it is located directly in the flight path of Memmingen Airport. With the windows closed, you can hardly hear anything, but if the window is open - flight operations start after 6 a.m...
The breakfast is standard at best, nothing special. The arrangement of the tables in diagonal rows is striking, which strongly reminds one of a cafeteria. The noise level is also similar.
All cheese or sausage slices are consistently offered halved(!), even the small spreadable sausages are only available halved. You will look in vain for more expensive items like prosciutto or salmon.
In terms of quality, the selection was hardly at a four-star level. For example, the boiled ham was already sour and should never have been served. Too bad. The only hot options are scrambled eggs, bacon, and tomatoes.
The freshly cut fruit is a positive highlight. The service is very friendly, but a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of guests.
Conclusion: The hotel is all style and no substance. For a conference hotel, the tiny rooms are certainly sufficient, but anyone wanting to go on vacation should choose a different hotel.
