Great apartment style hotel in excellent location

Well appointed rooms, loved having a balcony; helpful and friendly staff; evening events e.g. Opera recital were a great extra touch; one of the best appointed hotel gyms I've seen; close to transport links and very easy to get around.

Relaxation from the city bustle, yet central

The Schwan Locke is very conveniently located, yet it is quiet so that you can get your sleep. The apartments are a good size for 2 people; the furnishings are stylish and practical. Everything was clean. The kitchenette offers a microwave/grill, a refrigerator with a freezer compartment, and a dishwasher. A kettle and toaster are there... Dishes are provided for 2 people, one set each. A bit tight if you really want to cook there. The only thing I really missed was a coffee machine or at least a filter for pour-over coffee. Oh, and briefly, the bed is 160 cm wide, which might not be wide enough for every couple.

more style than comfort

Schwan Locke is a case study in form over function. The lobby lounges and patio are lovely, breakfast is good, and it’s an easy walk to the train. But past the ground floor comfort falls apart fast.
In a hotel search filtered for AC this place shows up, but it doesn’t actually have it. No fan unless you ask for one on a weekday.
No coffee maker in the room.
Booth style couches in the rooms are stiff and uncomfortable.
Flimsy hair dryer.
In hospitality it’s the little things that show your host cares - it’s also the little things that show they don’t.
Housekeeping comes only once a week, and you’ll need fresh towels constantly because the sink sprays water all over the floor - the faucet is too big for the sink basin so it points at the lip of the sink - good luck washing your face!
No mirror with good lighting you can get close to for a shave or makeup, minimal closet space.
Hospitality isn’t big in Germany, but the Marriott nearby has an adult who cares about people 24/7. The room didn’t match the photos and it felt tight for three. When I asked the front desk about the discrepancy, the women working the desk exchanged glances and just said I had one of the bigger rooms - end of discussion as it was clearly a 2:1 conversation without no hospitality in the vibe. Triple check the square footage before you book — a good chunk might be terrace. It was much tighter than the Marriott residence down the street, which runs about €80/night less. (i was in munich 2 weeks, one week in each hotel)
Whatever you need, don’t bother asking anyone on a weekend — only one person onsite to check in guests only.
If you’re just passing through for 1-2 nights alone and don’t need much light to get ready, the lounge and location might be worth it. If you actually need to live somewhere for a few days, book elsewhere

Nice hotel with a quiet courtyard

Very good location for public transport.
The entrance is located on a not-so-nice street.
Courtyard very nice and quiet.
Rooms are cleaned every 7 days; the interval could be shorter.
Super staff, very helpful with problems.

A great place to stay.

I have stayed at these apartments a number of times now and have always enjoyed my stay. Handy situation for the station and the city centre. Clean comfortable accommodation. Very helpful staff. Not much more to say. Nothing to fault.
