A relaxing week on Insel Rügen

I enjoyed a relaxing six night stay at Hotel Rügenschmiede. My room with a balcony was both clean & comfortable and I had an excellent sleep each night. The breakfast every morning left me spoilt for choice. Eggs freshly cooked anyway you might were particularly good, provided my bad German was understood. The hotel sits in a very peaceful location but only two km from the ferry port at Schaprode.

House in a quiet location

Beautiful house in a quiet location. Rich breakfast buffet. We had a very nice stay. The staff was friendly and attentive. We would love to come back!

Times are hard for the hotel industry, but still unacceptable for us.

In August, we tried to make contact both via the hotel's homepage and by phone. Emails remained unanswered even 2 days later. On the phone, there is a strange AI voice that we found not very trustworthy. We then wanted to book via the website after all - until we reached the additional services during the booking process. We found the latter to be completely unreasonable. Pet surcharge of €24.90 and a car parking space of almost 8 euros. We definitely would not have expected breakfast at €20/pp in a rural hotel in Schaprode (!) either. Poor service in advance and, in our estimation, unreasonable price expectations definitely influenced our booking decision. We booked elsewhere.

Hotel is located in the village. Hotel it self is cosy with nice garden, offers tasty breakfast. There is no restaurants or shops in this area.

Lovely hotel in quiet corner of Rugen

Hotel Rugenschmiede is a small modern hotel set in the countryside. It has comfortable rooms, good food, friendly staff and a rural feel with ducks playing in the garden. It is perfectly situated just a couple of kilometres from the picturesque waterside village of Schaprode. From there, you can get to the lovely island of Hiddensee.
