Wow – I haven’t had such a service in a very long time
Dear staff at the Central Hotel Torgau,
thank you so much for this unforgettable weekend in wonderful Torgau!
We celebrated my grandparents' diamond wedding in this very lovingly run old hotel in the center of Torgau.
I have to say that we actually wanted to stay at the Rittergut Dröschkau. But when we got there, we were in for a big surprise. There was mold on the walls, cobwebs, garbage, broken beer bottles lying around. The charcoal grill was lit in the middle of the hall when we arrived!? Seriously!!! We have small children aged 3 and 5 and had to make short work of it.
Luckily, the Central Hotel took us in so spontaneously and provided us with several rooms for around 20 people for the weekend. Regardless of that, the good lady organized dinner for us in a nearby restaurant and the following evening an entire hall for the diamond wedding in the Ratskeller. Wow - I haven't experienced service like that for a very, very long time!!
The rooms are clean, beds are freshly made and towels are soft and cuddly - standard, as you would expect!
The breakfast was lovingly put together, from home-made meat and egg salad, with a generous sausage and cheese and vegetable platter, there were also various variations of muesli, various yoghurts and fresh fruit. Well, I don't need to talk about scrambled eggs with and without ham... So everything your heart could desire was fulfilled - unfortunately you can't eat that much. Even for vegans, vegetarians or those who are lactose intolerant.
On top of that, we as a group were provided with a spacious room free of charge for the late evening, which we were allowed to use as a group room!
The kids were provided with small food packages with fresh fruit.

Despite confirmed booking we were denied the stay - very unfriendly handling.
Breakfast was only offered to us from 09:00, as “then everyone else also eats breakfast”. Since we had to leave early the next day, we asked for an earlier time - a hotel breakfast from 07:30 or 08:00 is very common. The answer to that: “At the earliest 08:30 or there is no breakfast.” I replied that we would probably not take breakfast, but that would be reflected in our review. In response, we were summarily asked to leave the hotel and threatened with lawyers.
We have never been treated so unkindly and impossibly. From the very beginning, we were greeted with displeasure, as if our visit were a pain. Poor handling, poor service - not recommended.

Sehr geehrter Herr Nikolas Pörschke, sie lassen in der Tat keine Zeit verstreich und kommen ihrer Drohung nach! Respekt verdient ihr kindliches Verhalten nicht. Den Grund, warum wir sie des Hauses verwiesen haben lassen sie einfach mal außen vor. Wir lassen uns nicht erpressen oder drohen! Es scheint, dass sie bislang Erfolge mit ihrer nazistischen Strategie erzielen konnten, wir lassen uns nicht ein, auf ein derartiges ungezogenes Verhalten ein! Wir hoffen, dass sie eine tiefe Befriedigung empfunden haben beim Verfassen dieser Rezession!

Don't book this hotel!
We arrived to find the bedroom made up with clean towels but the bathroom absolutely filthy with hairs all over the sink. We raised this the next day with the owner at breakfast and was assured it would be put right. We were out on long days so didn't get a chance to check it out until late. We arrived back to find that it still had not in fact been cleaned. The next day at breakfast we raised it again with the owner and the bathroom wasn't cleaned - we were told to put towels on the floor and it would definitely be cleaned - we arrived back to find out it exactly the same - only now we couldn't even shower because the towels had been in a damp heap all day. The next day we had more time so raised it again (this time we think the person available was the owner's mum) and had to more or less insist they did it. The woman this time was a little more shirty, did quite a lot of huffing and eye rolling and made us leave the hotel whilst it was cleaned - pointing at the door and making it clear we had to go out of the hotel altogether whilst it was cleaned! We had planned to go out but were just sitting in reception briefly and got told to leave! The owner however was very nice, breakfast was nice and had clearly done her best to accommodate dietary requirements. Her mother was very much less nice. Apparently they have a big problem with getting staff which resulted in this problem. With that in mind, as nice as the owner was (I'm not sure anyone could be nice enough to make up for the mum) I would say avoid this hotel. Those problems aside, there is no bar in the hotel and literally consists of bedrooms, a breakfast room and a very small reception. We also had problems with the reception only being manned for 3 hours a day and any arrivals out of this time not being able to access the hotel. The whole experience was a bit bizarre to be honest and rather like a German Fawlty Towers hotel.

Rude customer service makes average hotel unacceptable
Hotel front desk lady was unreasonably rude and unhelpful. A group of us booked at this hotel for one night. Hotel kept front doors locked until 3pm. Once open, requests for help signing on to very slow internet, request for an extra pillow, requests for a floor fan (rooms have no a/c) were all refused. Shower water was never above lukewarm. This woman’s rude behavior is not acceptable. All requests were reasonable and guests were polite.

Horrible service
The staff was unreachable after hours and there was no way to get into my room when I came back from dinner. Instead of helping me, the staff called the police to deal with me !?!?!?! What kind of service is that? The police escorted me to my room and was very confused to see that I was a guest
