Sylt charm right by the sea
We stayed in a suite consisting of a spacious double bedroom, a separate room with a single bed, and a balcony. The bathroom was also large, and the overall layout offered plenty of space. The rooms are not modern, but they are well kept and show no signs of wear. Carpet flooring gives a cosy touch, while the bathroom is tiled. A particularly charming detail: as we were on the ground floor, we had our own traditional beach chair right outside a lovely touch of North Sea character.
Check-in was smooth. As we arrived after 6 pm, the reception was already closed, but we had been informed a few days in advance and received a code for the key box. Everything worked seamlessly.
Breakfast was not huge, but offered a good variety. It leaned more towards savoury dishes; a few extra sweet options such as pancakes or French toast would have been nice. What stood out was the fact that breakfast is served until noon ideal for late risers and wonderfully stress-free. I particularly want to highlight the staff here: not only were they attentive and helpful, but they also created a warm, almost family-like atmosphere at breakfast. Conversations came naturally, and one felt genuinely welcome.
Throughout the stay, the team went above and beyond whether it was arranging taxis or making restaurant reservations, their kindness and dedication truly enhanced our experience.
A practical note for visitors to Sylt: hotel-issued cards must be shown at the beach to avoid fines. This applies across the entire island, not just to this hotel.
Conclusion: The Strandhotel stands out for its excellent location close to the beach and the main pedestrian zone its cosy ambience, and above all its exceptionally friendly and supportive staff. The proximity to everything, breakfast served until noon, and the welcoming atmosphere make it a special place to stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Top stay in Westerland. Great location, great beds, super friendly team
Our expectations were fully met or exceeded, especially by the extremely nice and friendly staff. All with a smile and friendly face, Always turned, that was extraordinary.
Ideal location to visit Westerland's gastronomy and main shopping streets.
Very quiet, top comfortable beds, room and bathroom fussy clean. Our dog was welcome and was happy about the small gestures.
Another positive was that you were allowed to take the animal companion to the "outdoor area" of the breakfast zone. The fact that guests who arrived without a dog and blocked everything (although everything is free inside) are sitting here again is kind of typical...

Disappointing – no response after cancelled reservation
For September 2025 we had a confirmed booking (suite with garage and dog). On our arrival, however, the hotel was closed – according to information on site due to a fire in the boiler room a few days earlier.
This can happen, of course, but we were not informed, although all previous reservations were always confirmed and reconfirmed by email.
Even more disappointingly, the hotel did not respond to any of my letters or reminders, although the establishment has since reopened.
We had to move to another hotel at short notice, which was more expensive and meant a shorter stay.
I would have liked at least a short feedback or a sign of accommodation – especially as a long-time regular.
Too bad – we have always appreciated the house, but unfortunately feel no longer welcome after this experience.
