A special stay and a dignified farewell at the Aqua

Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg was – unsurprisingly – very good, in some respects even outstanding. Especially the Club Lounge on the 4th floor. Floor deserves a separate mention: The design is stylish and quiet, the presentation of the food well thought out and the quality consistently at a very high level. Above all, there is an intimate, almost private atmosphere, in which one could have stayed without any problems the entire day, without ever seeming restless or arbitrary.
Our signature suite was exactly what you would expect from a house of this category. Very spacious, with clearly separated living and sleeping area, a large bathroom and ample storage space. Everything looks quality, well-kept and functional at the same time – without unnecessary hassle. Only the light switch on the bathroom seemed really bright at night, so it had to be taped off.
The actual occasion of our visit – at the same time the highlight of the evening – was the (last) visit to the restaurant Aqua. That this restaurant will close after more than a quarter of a century for personal reasons of the chef is unfortunate – not only for Wolfsburg or Lower Saxony, but for the international top gastronomy as a whole. Keeping three Michelin stars constant for 17 years is a feat that very few chefs worldwide succeed in.
The evening was special in several ways: All guests were given the same menu at the same time, with individual wishes of course being taken into account. After the main course, the chef personally took a lot of time, went from table to table and spoke openly to guests about the past years, formative moments and future plans. There was nothing staged about it, but it seemed very personal and honest. Although we sat at the table for about seven hours in total, the evening passed surprisingly quickly.
Culinarily, the menu – as in the early years of aqua – was at the highest level: extremely precisely crafted, tastefully clear and focused, perfectly crafted and very finely dressed. The service team acted just as confidently: highly professional, attentive, yet pleasantly relaxed and approachable. Only a few teams at this level manage to achieve this balance.
A small, personal downer: Unfortunately, the chocolate cart, which was very appreciated by me in the early years, was no longer used this time. The chocolates themselves were nevertheless excellent – just without the nostalgic conclusion I associate with them.
The room breakfast the next morning rounded off the stay very harmoniously. Presentation and quality deserve a separate mention here too. Everything was very carefully arranged, fresh and at a consistently high level. The service was attentive, friendly and personal, including consistent name addressing.
Overall, an all-round successful stay with no discernible weaknesses. We are very excited to see how The Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg will position itself culinaryly in the future – expectations remain high.

True five stars!

Everything here is truly fantastic! The check-in was friendly and efficient, the suite cozy and modern, with a very good bed. The spa area is beautiful with the magnificent pool in the canal overlooking the VW power plant. Daniela is warm and attentive and makes the visit there a unique experience! The staff is also incredibly friendly everywhere else. The breakfast is perfect, the selection and quality are outstanding. At check-in, I learned that the lounge and high tea are only available on weekends. This must have been passed on, as I received a small selection of the high tea in a small cooler bag from the manager upon departure. That is 5 stars! By the way, you receive 2 days of free access to the Autostadt. With a reservation, you can walk through it when coming from the train station, which significantly shortens the route. Just stop by the ticket counter briefly. But back to the hotel - a recommendation or drawbacks.

Nice Hotel, No VW Theme, Poor A/C

The facility is very nice. The staff is amazing. It was our 25 year wedding anniversary and we met in a Volkswagen club so we wanted to stay on VW property at the Ritz. We were surprised that the hotel didn't have one single mention of VW. No pictures, no art, nothing. We expected it to be VW themed. Other hotels are better if you're looking for a VW theme. Additionally, there was a heat wave and the a/c was simply inadequate. I expected a better a/c. It kept the room around 25 even though it was set to 18. This is typical of German hotels, but I expected more from the Ritz.

Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg was a delightful experience marked by elegance and comfort. The hotel itself has a beautiful, chic style, with spacious and spotless rooms that immediately make you feel at ease. Valet parking was excellent, adding a smooth and convenient touch to our arrival.
Breakfast was truly a highlight - not only was there a vast selection, but we. could also order from the menu, making it both indulgent and satisfying. In the evening, the bar offered a cozy atmosphere with live piano music and delicious cocktails, perfect for winding down.
On the downside, the swimming pool could have been warmer for a more relaxing experience. Additionally, the dining options left us slightly disappointed. The hotel has two restaurants: Aqua, which requires reservations far in advance, and Terra. While Terra offered good food, we were disappointed not to experience Aqua during our stay.
Overall, The Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg delivers on luxury and atmosphere, with a few small drawbacks that are worth considering when planning your visit.
