Also recommended for motorcycle travellers
We were at the beginning of August as a motorcycle group with 4 participants in the Waldmühle. The location of the hotel has been very good for our day trips. The motorcycles could be parked overnight in the backyard protected.
For us it fit on all levels: the accommodation was good to very good, the food and drink was always very delicious, breakfast as well as evening, and the service (the team) was always super friendly and accommodating.
For us this place is highly recommended, we will definitely come back!

2026 Women's Day disaster
We were on site on 08.03.2026 for Women's Day. Booked was a 3-course meal with musical accompaniment.
The menu (40,- Euro) contained an Asian soup which was good. Afterwards, spaghetti was served with shrimp. The shrimp skewer was absolutely bad. Totally dried frozen food in the lowest price level.
Dessert, a tiramisu was mediocre.
Furthermore, the wine glass was banged on, which I drew the waiter's attention to, the soup terriae banged several times where percellane was missing, etc..
The musical accompaniment was the summit, if they had played beautiful music from the tape we could have seen something over the inferior food.
It has to be said that the music started very late, for the main course.
We and also other guests were absolutely disappointed to find something like this in this yet beautifully prepared house.
Therefore it was unfortunately a short evening which had the ambience of a coffee ride.
We are not going to give this House a second chance either, we are too familiar with this business.

An diesem Abend haben wir rund 90 Gäste mit einem Drei-Gänge-Menü bewirtet: Tom-Kha-Suppe als Vorspeise, dann wahlweise Maispoularde oder Pasta mit Garnelen sowie einem Tiramisu als Dessert. Die Speisen wurden in unserer Küche frisch zubereitet. Die von Ihnen vermutete „Tiefkühlkost im untersten Preisniveau“ entspricht daher nicht unserer Arbeitsweise.
Sollte ein Glas oder Geschirr nicht einwandfrei gewesen sein, bedauern wir das selbstverständlich. Unser Service ersetzt solche Dinge umgehend.
Die ursprünglich angekündigte musikalische Begleitung musste kurzfristig aus unvorhersehbaren persönlichen Gründen absagen. Über unsere Kanäle haben wir auf die Programmänderung hingewiesen und eine alternative musikalische Begleitung organisiert.
Es tut uns leid, dass der Abend für Sie nicht Ihren Erwartungen entsprochen hat. Viele andere Gäste haben Menü und Atmosphäre jedoch sehr positiv erlebt.

All our holiday wishes were fulfilled here!
Dear Ms. Renner! We would like to thank you for the very pleasant and extremely nice stay in your hotel. The rooms and service were perfect as always. It is very rare to find such warmth these days. We have been guests in this hotel for several years and it is always a wonderful experience to stay here. We look forward to seeing you and your Crow again soon, who seemed to be there just for us. Even unusual requests were immediately fulfilled by you and all the other staff to our complete satisfaction. We will continue to be loyal to you and your hotel in the future.

We often travel around Germany and Europe. My wife booked this hotel by chance because our other accommodation was not available. Thank goodness! We were surprised by the extremely friendly and natural staff when we arrived. The room was large for this category, spacious and spotlessly clean. There was even a bathtub to make us feel at home. The whole hotel exudes calm and dignified hospitality. The breakfast is a good example of Thuringia! Even fresh minced meat, homemade jams and homemade sausages are fabulous and delicious. The restaurant serves hearty dishes, which was sometimes a bit too much for me. But as a chef I am spoiled anyway! Friendly service here too and good drinks at affordable prices. I can recommend this place without reservation. In this category it is probably one of the best we have ever booked! Many thanks to the young boss and the team for the lovely days!

Friendly family run hotel
It was one of our Christmas pit stops with the family as Zella Mehlis is a reasonable distance from Leipzig - convenient for everyone. You definitely need a car to move around to the nearby towns. The morning walks near the hotel -was breathtaking especially those mornings where the surroundings were covered with snow…bliss!
The hotel itself has a restaurant with pretty decent meals and breakfast. We were happy with the selection, the menu was pretty much a traditional German fare so if you are not into it, that might be a bit of a problem.
The rooms were of decent sizes the only thing that bothered my hubs was the mattress- to him it wasn't firm enough. I was happy with it but then again I am the kind who could sleep almost anywhere! So if you love your firm mattress- sleep might be a bit of a bother. But Toby survived with the occasional morning whinge.
Everyone at the hotel was so lovely, helpful and spirits were high, it's Christmas after all! :-)
