Perfect stay!

Excellent hotel in the harbor, next to all the restaurants and beach bars, and a ten minute walk from the city center passing through the green Sidirodromo park. Very neat room, with daily attention to cleanliness.
The breakfast is super complete with handmade Messinian dishes. Massage services by a very experienced therapist.
Friendly and helpful staff.

Dissapointing and DIrty

First of all this is NOT a 4**** Hotel..more like 2 star Airbnb. This is totally misrepresented. The room was dingy and dirty the bathroom window didn't open because it was rotten and no extractor fan in there. The tiles were cracked on the wall and the shower water outlet was filthy. The bed had a duvet on with no cover. Goodness knows how many people had used this before us. We immediately threw this in the corner. The wooden floor was dirty and scratched. This room is badly in need of repair. For €95 per night we expected better. There is no Reception, no coffee making machine, no room service. This hotel needs to be downgraded as they are mis representing it.

Grim Room

This is definitely not a 4-star hotel as described on Booking.com. It's at best 1 or 2-star. The property might have been charming at one time but now it is dated, tired-looking and unfortunately dirty. Our room had hair left all over the floor and was full of flies. The windows didn't open so I'm not sure how the flies got in. There was definitely no restaurant, coffee maker/kettle, bar or room service as described. In fact there was no staff there at all. The rickety front door was locked at 5pm (even though we were scheduled to check in) and no info on how to access the lockbox, which I didn't expect . We'd originally planned to stay only one night only but left as our room smelled like sewage and was so dark/dirty I didn't want to sleep there. How it could be described as allergy-free I have no idea.

Fantastic value for money

The hotel was a beautiful old mansion close to the waterfront and a comfortable walk to the old town and the great restaurants there. We were lucky to find a parking space outside. The room was small with traditional wooden furniture but for one night it was perfect. The bathroom was tiny with no shower screen. Breakfast was served in the garden and omelettes and cheese toasties were on offer. It was excellent value for money.

Atmospheric hotel in Kalamata

The Ntouana is a small hotel close to the Kalamara seafront. It was very fresh and clean, I would think it has been recently refurbished. They have kept the period style of the building which makes it very attractive. The rooms are very comfortable with new mattresses and an air con system so silent that we kept it on all night. It was very quiet, a good nights sleep is guaranteed. Breakfast was superb. Bread and condiments, fruit, and some cooked options such as omelettes were available. All items were served in an attractive private courtyard.
Some commentators point out the rooms are on the small side and the bathrooms basic, but that is reflected in the price paid, 58 euros per night in our case. We thought it to be superb value and were so pleased we stayed here instead on one of the mainstream beachfront hotels.
