It’s very odd to have a bathroom and shower with no real door. The room gets muggy and steamy whenever we showered. The floor in the bathroom area was always wet because the water from the shower leaked out. Why would there be a divider between the beds and shower instead of a wall? Hotel seemed to have no discernible style. Otherwise was clean and staff were very attentive and helpful.

Beautiful boutique stay with an amazing location

We booked Casa Hidalgo for Christmas and were a little unsure at first since there aren’t many reviews, but we ended up loving it. The moment you walk in, the hotel feels beautiful, calm, and intentional, and the Christmas decorations made it feel extra special without being over the top.
The staff was wonderful from the moment our taxi pulled up. We were really glad our room faced the interior courtyard, since the surrounding streets can be lively. It made coming back at night feel peaceful and quiet.
The room itself was simple, modern, and comfortable. The king bed and the large double vanity were particularly appreciated. Everything felt clean, fresh, and thoughtfully designed.
The location is a huge win — you’re just two blocks from the Zócalo, with shops, mercados, and restaurants all around, but the hotel still feels tucked away once you’re inside. Also, don’t miss Café Bien, a couple streets up — easily the best espresso and pour-over we had in Oaxaca.
Overall, Casa Hidalgo felt like a great home base: stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located. We’d absolutely stay here again and hope more people find it — it deserves way more love (and reviews).
