The tent is big, wc and shower inside the tent, it is so much cold on the night, we get cold, dinner is good (soup, tagine, fruits), but breakfast has little option, (there is No egg)
The staffs and Alberto are very helpfully

The photos are simply untrue. The camp is in poor condition - broken chairs & lanterns; blankets thrown about; garbage strewn here & there. There is only one outlet in each tent and electricity was not always available. We had less than five minutes of hot water over 48 hours. Often one teenager was the only staff on site, and we had to communicate using Google translate, as the adults simply were not around. Hamid did his best to keep things lively, but he’s working with very little. I would not recommend this camp to anyone - and I’ve been to others, so this is not a review in isolation. The owner Albert (who is apparently back in Spain) told us we would be picked up at a location 10 kms from the place his staff were waiting. They couldn’t be bothered to come get us and we could not find the site on Google Maps. Eventually we found each other, but this is one example of poor service and communication. Thankfully our 4x4 guide Barack saved this trip by making our tour memorable. The rest was simply disappointing all around. Go elsewhere and get a real camp experience…

Dishonest Scammers – Stay AWAY! Bait & Switch!

We booked this camp based on the pictures and map location as represented on booking.com and the camp’s own website. It showed its location as next to a large dune, partially surrounded by smaller dunes and having 6 tents in the camp.
On the day before we were to check in, we received a message stating that both the meeting point had changed (as you cannot drive to the camp yourself) and the meeting time had changed from 4pm to 5pm.
We arrived at the new meeting point at 5pm as requested. As no one had come at 5:30pm we called the camp and were told they were on their way 5 minutes away. Another 20 minutes later they arrived and when we expressed disappointment at waiting in desert heat for 50 minutes, the driver firstly attempted to suggest that the time had changed and we were early (the time had changed, but it was 3 days before our check in date) and then in a harsh tone gave us the ultimatum ‘well do you want to go or not?’
Having no reasonable alternative, we stated we wanted to go and departed an hour late.
The driver then drove us to the camp. Upon arrival, there were no dunes nearby, and the camp looked nothing like as represented in the booking.com listing or the camp’s own website. The camp also had 8 tents and not 6 as in the pictures. We checked google maps for our location and were shocked to see that we were not at the Luxury Maktoub camp but one called Bahba Luxury Camp (available to be booked separately on booking.com). At no time did the camp administration, driver or camp workers inform us that we were to be taken to another camp. As we wanted to be on top of the dunes for sunset, we hiked AN HOUR (one way) through the desert to the nearest dunes. It was pitch black when we made our way back to the camp.
To make the best out of a bad situation, as we wanted to be on the dunes for sunrise and it was so far to hike, we paid 50 Euro to be driven to the dunes the next morning for sunrise.
We checked with the two other groups at the camp with us to clarify which camp they had booked to stay at – another couple had booked Luxury Maktoub and also been unknowingly brought to this camp without prior notification. Hence it appears that was not a simple mistake that we had been taken to the wrong camp, but a premeditated bait and switch.
Our Sahara desert camp experience was ruined by Luxury Maktoub’s dishonesty. They refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing or provide any compensation. The explanation provided to booking.com by the camp’s owners was that the Luxury Maktoub camp had been forced to be removed from that particular section of the Sahara desert by the government, and it was out of their control. If true it is impossible to be taken to Luxury Maktoub as it no longer exists. There are other options available for you not to risk booking this camp and having the same experience – use them! Caveat emptor!

Good exper but not luxury

it was an incredible experience but this is not luxury camp. there was no window in the tent which means no ventilation. other than that, and nothing to do during the day, the nights were amazing under the stars. i would go for one that has windows though.

Scam...

The staff is very nice and works hard to prepare everything for the guests and make guests feel welcome. We had no problems with them so please note that the negative feedback has nothing to do with their performance. Actually, it seems that the owner does not appreciate their hard work, as they are practically running everything for him. These guys woke up at 5 AM to prepare a large breakfast for us prior to our departure to the bus station and they did it with pleasure and enthusiasm.
· We read great reviews and, although this camp was pricier than the others that we researched, we were willing to pay more because we read such great comments about the owner (Spanish); However, when we arrived, the owner made no effort to introduce himself to guests and quickly left the camp before doing so. What really surprised us was the disorganization - only 5 days prior to arrival, we received a message notifying us that the Moroccan government had forced the camps to move further outside of the dunes. Therefore, the meeting point had changed. We booked a riad within walking distance of the original meeting point and were left scrambling to understand how we could reach the new meeting point. Luckily, the owner of the riad provided us with transportation, but that cost 40€. We tried on several occasions to reach the owner in advance and were unsuccessful. It was as if someone was purposely hanging up the call. We also arranged a bus from Merzouga the morning after our overnight stay. The owner knew that we needed a way to get to the bus station, but after speaking to the staff the night at the camp, they were unaware of this and said that the owner had already left. In the end, the owner picked us up early the next morning, but was very standoff-ish with us and made no effort to have a conversation or explain the situation with the camp relocation, etc. He didn't seem to care. Upon arrival, it seemed that things were still being set up. Some tents were not put up and the outside area was still being put together. There was no guidance for the guests - no communication of the activities to take place such as where dinner would be, what time it would begin, etc. Finally at 8:30, we wandered over to the camp area that we thought was for the staff workers only. There, we met other guests beginning to be served dinner. Again, everything was disorganized and we certainly did not feel that the extra money we spent was worth it. PICTURES ARE DECEIVING...
