Great stay for our anniversary.

This hotel is a very pleasant surprise: it is well arranged, not too big, thus human-sized.
The breakfast is varied and delicious.
We were superbly welcomed by Rehha, who had prepared our room for our anniversary.

Never again

We arrived on a very hot weekend in Amsterdam. When we checked into the room, we immediately realized there was no air-conditioning. We came to the front desk and were told that most rooms were not air-conditioned, but she could assign us to one which had air conditioning. However, it was considered a “voluntary two step downgrade” because it was smaller, had no outdoor space and had only one bathroom sink. We agreed, then we’re told that there would be no refund in price despite the fact that it was a two step down grade. The room which we were assigned had the air-conditioning unit immediately above the head of the bed meaning that all night, not only did we hear the noise of the unit, but the cold air blew directly onto our faces. Very uncomfortable indeed There are about 100 other options in this part of the city. We travel frequently to Amsterdam because we have children and grandchildren there, , but will never return to this hotel.

avoid the hotel in summer

The hotel has no air conditioning and the temperature of the room was 30 Celsius at 1800 hours and incredibly hot. It was impossible to spend the night there. I was forced to go to another hotel. No compensation was offered. Poor service. Avoid this hotel in summer.

Hartelijk dank dat u de tijd heeft genomen om uw ervaring met ons te delen.
Het spijt ons oprecht te lezen dat uw verblijf tijdens de warme dag zo oncomfortabel is geweest. Onze kamers zijn momenteel niet voorzien van airconditioning, en wij begrijpen goed dat dit bij hoge temperaturen erg vervelend kan zijn.
We willen daarnaast graag verduidelijken dat wij u op dat moment wel een alternatief hebben aangeboden in een ander hotel van onze organisatie waar wél airconditioning aanwezig is. Het is jammer om te horen dat dit niet als passende oplossing is ervaren.
Wij vinden het vervelend dat uw verblijf hierdoor niet aan uw verwachtingen heeft voldaan. Uw feedback nemen wij serieus en gebruiken wij om onze communicatie en service in dit soort situaties verder te verbeteren.

We wanted to find a good, affordable hotel near Concertgebouw.
It is just behind the concert hall.
Everything is in walking distance, i.e., Concerthebouw, museums, grocery store, restaurants, tram stations.
House keeping staff were very friendly.
Check-in, Check-out experiences may vary depending on who would be shifted at the time you do so, but in general, it is OK.
Our room was clean, cozy, facing to the street viewing Concertgebow, park, and museums. Perfect!

Maybe tries a little too hard to seem hip, eco-cool and alternative, but the staff were very helpful and the place is clean, and well-located. Be warned, though: little space to work, no wardrobe (just a little rail) and the 'climate control' listed on the Hotels.com site is just a radiator - don't make the same mistake as me and expect aircon in hot weather.
