One of my favourite hotels in the Netherlands
This is a lovely hotel. The oldest in the region I believe. Our rooms overlooked the water and to see the silvery moon at night was a real treat. The rooms are large and at the front have great views. Grou is a very pretty town and there are nice walks from the hotel. The restaurant is top notch, and the staff really professional and friendly.

A disappointing lunch
Lunch today at restaurant Oostergo. We ordered the surprise lunch. Not exactly the cheapest. But we liked to be surprised. What a disappointment. We got a lukewarm tasteless fish soup, a sandwich with half raw hamburger, a plate of unimaginative green peppers, but the worst was the tasteless Cesare salad with dried-out, chewy old chicken. Disgraceful to charge €29.50 p.p. for this.
The girls in the ministry were cheerful and smooth. They couldn't help it. But we don't moor our boat here anymore.

Enjoy your stay!
A neat hotel with a very clean and well-kept room! We stayed in the family room, which was spacious and comfortable. The room was on the top (3rd) floor and was only accessible via narrow stairs. Because the room was at the top, it got quite hot, but fortunately there was air conditioning. This is definitely recommended to turn on at night.
The breakfast was good. By default you got a croissant and in addition you could make your own choices via a list, such as different types of bread, toppings, egg dishes and specials. Additional ordering was possible.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming!
Parking at the hotel was limited, with approximately 7 parking spaces at the hotel itself. Parking in the street applies to permit holders. Just in front of the street is a small parking lot where you can park for up to 3 hours with a parking disc. Between 18:00 and 09:00 it was not necessary.
All in all a great hotel to stay when you want to visit Grou or the surrounding area.

Scandalous service
Hotel booked for 1 night due to theatre performance nearby. Evening booked in advance. Therefore without cancellation. This was not possible due to short-term booking. Early in the afternoon we were told that performance due to illness comedian has been cancelled. Had direct contact with hotel to cancel, get refund or reschedule reservation to other date when performance is rescheduled. All this not possible at this hotel. No cooperation whatsoever to accommodate us in any way. Just outrageous

Plus and minus
Restaurant, Location, Food, Mood Very Good, Hotel Facilities Very Poor. No elevator, 3 stairs per floor, super small room with super small bathroom that gets soaking wet when showering. Everywhere kind of unclear mood lighting, good beds and pillows. Door goes very heavy, the thinnest towels ever had, room scorching hot, no ventilation and annoying ticking of the central heating.
Service evening top, service breakfast not . Literally wait hour and then eggs at the end of breakfast.
