One night in Almería at the Nuevo Torreluz

Very nice staff, excellent location, large room with bathtub. Very good price too.

Hotel Nuevo Torreluz is a solid, no-frills base for a short stay in the city. Its central location is a real strength—just moments from Calle Jovellanos, with plenty of tapas bars, restaurants, and shops right on your doorstep. The beach is also within a manageable 15–20 minute walk, making it easy to explore both the old town and the coast.
The hotel and room itself were perfectly adequate for a few nights—clean, comfortable enough, and functional if you’re mainly using it as a base rather than spending extended time inside.
However, the biggest drawback was the WiFi. In my room (located at the corner of the building), the connection was extremely weak and unreliable. This made it difficult to do anything online without frustration. I often had to go down to the lobby or rely on mobile data just to get a stable connection. If you’re planning to work remotely, attend calls, or need consistent internet for business, this is a significant downside and something to ask reception when checking-in as I suspect it was due to room location.
Overall, a well-located and serviceable hotel for short leisure stays.

Excellent service

Stayed for a Sunday night in April after 7 hrs driving arriving at 4.30 pm. Hotel reception were very helpful and showed us where to park. Unfortunately on a Sunday virtually every bar and restaurant is closed from 4/8 pm. The hotels Taberna bar opened up at 8pm. The service was excellent the food was good.

The hotel is badly neglected. Hallway ceiling is falling apart, room and bathroom smelled like mildew. Linens have seen better days. We had 2 rooms and both rooms had the same mildew issue. Staff is supper friendly and helpful. The restaurant is quite good and the location is great. It is just unfortunate that they have not renovated the rooms and hallways.

Good location in historic centre. Restricted parking. Good breakfast.
