Enjoyed our stay
Just back from Rio park, booked last minute as our hotel in old town was having work done outside so we changed 2 weeks previous! And glad we did! Couldnt fault it, the room was basic but everyting we needed, no need for anything else as your only there for sleep and shower etc! The air con was great, walkin in 38c heat and walking into cool room was great as we left our card in and just took our room key! Food was fine about 80% of the time, couple of nights wasnt the best but always found something to eat! Breakfast was fantastic though! That crispy bacon and black pudding!! Wow!! Not a bad walk down to beach, just 10mins down the path. Perfect spot being about 2 streets back from the strip! Walked on a morning and back for about midday and always got a bed! People queuing at 9am was mental! I see people have big groups and want them all together but the fact from midday most of their beds they queued for werent even touched! Would recommend the hotel! Lifts not the best but boosted our steps as we had to walk down the 8 flights which was fine! Loved the goass lifts and overlook the pool! Free safe was great too as so many hotel jump on this as a money making thing and charge! All in all a great time and cant thank the Rio park enough! Would defo go back! Thanks

Definitely worth a visit to allow you to form your own opinion
The hotel itself is situated in a perfect location for those that want to be close enough to walk to the beach, to walk to the market, to walk to old town.
As we had a toddler who would often like a little walk and then jump into the pram for a bit, my wife and I found this hotel's positioning in central Benidorm ideal.
The hotel's services and amenities are great for what you pay. The deal we managed to secure with TUI was brilliant for us. We had a double room that was equipped with a pull down sofa. When the sofa was pulled down, it was quite a tight squeeze at first, but once we unpacked and put the suitcases away and out of sight, the room was exactly what we needed it for.
The balcony was big enough for us to hang our towels out to dry and for us to sit on whilst our baby napped in the room.
In terms of the decor of the whole hotel, Rio Park may need to up their game slightly to ensure they keep their 4* rating. When compared to the look of the rooms, bar areas, foyer, etc, of other 4* hotels in Benidorm, the design and decor falls short. However, as mentioned, we got a really good deal, so expected this level of furnishing style and look.
I read online that people were moaning about the lifts. Sometimes they are busy and take a while to arrive, sometimes they are not and are readily available for use. As we were situated on the 1st floor, we found no issue at all.
The transfer time to the hotel was 45 minutes, however, many of the people on our flight were all staying at our hotel so the whole coach had one stop and that was Rio Park. I really liked that as it meant were weren't stop start travelling around the tight streets of Central Benidorm. Saying that, most of the bus ran to the reception desk to check in straight away, forming a massive queue. However, we opted to have a look around and had some food and drink at the pool bar.
The pools were great. A good size and a lovely temperature. My daughter and I spent a long time moving from the main pool to the splash pool.
If you are particular about where you want a sunbed, and have a specific spot on poolside where you want it based, you will need to join the queue before the pool doors open. However, if you are not that way inclined, at any point in the day you will not struggle to find a sunbed and chairs whilst you enjoy poolside.
The evening entertainment was good, we never saw many of the later acts, however the show schedule was packed all week. The team that lead the 20 minute mini disco were great!
I also read online that the food was 'disgusting' or 'inedible'. That is utterly nonsense. My wife and I have travelled the world and the food at this hotel did not dissapoint. In my opinion there was something for everyone, whether that be in the morning for breakfast or in the evening for dinner.
The themed nights were excellent, such as the TEX MEX night. The ribs were fantastic and the chilli and nachos were definitely worth a mention. Furthermore, at Breakfast on Sunday, you had the option to help yourself to some cava. We loved that.
There was a deal advertised that if you paid €5 per adult and €2.50 per child you were given a wrist band and were entitled to 3 drinks each with dinner. We chose to go ahead with this option and it was brilliant. It was so worth it.
Again, I'd read online that multiple people were moaning that you had to queue up at the bar to get your drinks. So what? Never at anypoint did I enter the queue with more than 4 people in the queue.
A special mention must be given to the female member of staff behind the bar in the restuarant. She made the whole bar experience quick, easy, and without complaint.
A few negatives of this hotel would be that when there were people chain smoking on their balcony (with their balcony door obviously open) the smell would travel through the corridor and would affect the smell of our room. This was dissaponting.
Furthermore, the fridge in your room is kept at such a low setting that it would prevent you from actually keeping any liquid at a cool or cold temperature.
Finally, your towels are not changed or replaced everyday. Even when leaving the used and wet towels on the bathroom floor, they are not renewed or replaced until after a few days.
Overall, we paid less than £1000 for a family of 3 for 7 nights half board. In my honest opinion, for that price, this hotel was well worth it.
If the same deal for the same price came up again, we would snap it up.

Nice family hotel but could be improved
Stayed in the Rio park for one week at the beginning of August. We had upgraded to the room with two separate sleeping areas so that my teenage daughter could have a bit of privacy. The hotel itself is nice. The reception area was clean and the pool is well sized.
In terms of the room- it was a good size for a family and I did like it that there were two separate sinks in our bathroom. The air conditioning worked well as did the shower. The beds were clean and there was some complimentary cans of orange in the fridge. Some negatives though were: The beds were very creaky and made horrible noises whenever we turned over. The sinks seemed to be blocked as they took around half an hour to drain. The glass panels in the shower were loose. The bottom of the bathroom door was swollen as if it had been wet at some point. The taps on the sinks would often pour out very hot water even when set to cold- which was not ideal when I wanted a cool wash in the morning and evening. Maids were round every day and quite thorough but bath towels were not changed every day, which I was not to pleased with as I am someone who only used a bath towel once before washing. We made use of the safe- which is free when you book with Tui. We had complimentary beach towels, dressing gowns and slippers in our room too, which was a nice touch. Overall I’d say that the rooms were good, had potential to be better but they were good for our stay.
The pool area was very big and there were two pools- one for young children and another one. It does get very busy in the morning but we usually waited until 2-4pm to swim and we could always find a lounger.
There was a good selection on food in the restaurant and overall were we’re pleased with the quality of breakfast and evening meal (we were half board). I would have liked to have seen more of a selection for non meat eaters as well as better food labelling. I do feel though that the restaurant is not big enough for the hotel capacity and we often could not find a table. We usually went outside but always had to ask someone to set out new cutlery. There were not too many staff cleat and relaying tables which made finding a table even more difficult.
There is a nice bar area and an arcade, which we made use of and at one point my daughter’s purse fell out of her bag. Thankfully someone handed it into the reception area.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful and the Tui rep on site was fantastic.
The location of the hotel was not too great for us. It is quite far back from everything in a quieter area. I was also a bit concerned whilst I was here and I learned that the pathway that the hotel is positioned on has a reputation for people being mugged. I have to say however, I have been coming to Benidorm for 30 years and never had a problem on there. During this holiday we walked up and down it several times, even at night and never encountered any issue. There were many lone people walking up and down it as well as elderly dog walkers. There were some homeless people that appeared to be living outside some derelict shops but they were always minding their own business and never so much as asked for cash.
Overall we did enjoy our stay here. I would certainly consider it in the future and would recommend it to others, especially if you like to be located in a quieter area of Benidorm.

Not for me
Booked this as a surprise for my daughters 16th birthday and stayed 4 nights. We got it at a cheap price but thought as it's advertised as a 4 star it would be OK.
Would say hotel is more of a 2 star, be prepared to queue for everything, check in, lifts, access to dining room, to get access to the pool in the morning. Meal times were not an enjoyable experience, it was like being in a works canteen and again you had to queue if you wanted drinks. I like to take my time and enjoy my food but I spent less than 30 minutes having my meals as it wasn't a relaxing atmosphere and the food was mediocre.
The room itself is a fine size however there were 3 of us in the room and they left 2 towels, bathroom door didn't shut and when we looked there was a bit of wood that had splintered away from the door frame at the bottom that stopped it shutting and the lock was broken. This was fixed the next day but its things like this that should be fixed before guests use the room.
Went into shower and there was quite a bit of hair in the shower and on the tiles, not the cleanest.
Unfortunately this will be the one and only time we will stay at Rio Park.
