Home Away From Home

I recently spent 4 nights at Villa Tranquil with my husband and it truly was a lovely place, close enough to Kandy town while also secluded and peaceful. Niragi was an amazing host. She went out of her way to help with directions, transport and even an unexpected doctor's appointment. I really enjoyed my morning meals at the breakfast bar, followed by a relaxing read on the swing out on the balcony, surrounded by so much natural beauty and a stunning view. I would love to return jere for another stay and highly recommend it to others. One tip: come via the main road because Google maps took me on an impossible route on the first day.

Truly a beautifull Location

What a wonderfull place, so comfertable and modern villa. Beautifull Location, veiws across the city of Kandy is just Breathtaking!
We enjoyed every minute of our stay..., would love to vist again sometime in the furture.
Thoroughly recommend to anyone who is planning to visit Kandy.

Great views,very good hospitality

Modern holiday bungalow with 3 spacious bedrooms and on suites. About 4 kms from Kandy city. We stayed there 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. Caretaker and Soma looked after us very well. Thanks Nuragi for following up everything.

Lovely stay...

This is a bit of a late review, but we stayed just for a night in late August and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful hospitality, beautiful and peaceful location and great dinner and breakfast that was served up.
Could have stayed for a few more nights just to chill out and relax!
Definitely recommended!

It embraced me with the warmth of home

If there is one accommodation experience you have to place into your Sri Lankan itinerary, it's Villa Tranquil, a unique property perched on the side of a mountain, 4km from Kandy, with stunning, wide sweeping views. It's more a home than a hotel. In fact, the place and the people embraced us from the beginning and it was so familiar and so welcoming that it was hard to leave. From the time our van wound its way up the hill to the villa, owner Nuragi Perera was there to greet us. We stepped inside and immediately gravitated to the balcony to see the views. The multi-level home is open, modern and tastefully styled and quite unlike other accommodation in Sri Lanka. We were shown to our rooms - spacious, breezy and the bathrooms had every mod con including one of those showers that can shoot water at you from just about every angle. There is heaps of storage too and it's all so private. If you don't feel like traipsing up the feature staircase to grab a cuppa, a kitchenette is handy on this level, along with fabulous chill out room for lazing about. Back upstairs in the more formal lounge, Nuragi arranged a meal for us and from that time onward, we felt like we were home. In fact, the meals and company were so good that we stayed in for all our meals with cook, Soma, whipping up some of the best home cooked food that you will eat in Sri Lanka. The house is large enough to get away from everyone, with the cosy chill out room spilling with books, DVDs, board games and offering those great views whenever we peeked out the window. If we wanted company, we would move to the formal lounge and open area upstairs which became a great place for board games, to tell tales and to relax in front of the view. There is the quirkiest of rooms on the top floor of the villa that I peeked into and the views from there will take your breath away - and it's all so private. The secret to our visit was Nuragi. Not only had she designed and built this place but her warm, communicative and uncanny way of knowing what we might like before we ever had to ask for it, embraced us. If you're looking for somewhere to rest your head, to breathe clean air, to lay your head down on a crisp, clean pillow with a cooling breeze, to eat some amazing meals if you choose and be looked after better than a family member could nurture you, then you must visit Villa Tranquil. We'll be back!
