Exceptional staff

One quality about everything is the helpfulness of the staff, especially Miss Shannon at reception.
Cozy room, very large bathroom, convenient and free parking. The breakfast was great! Pharmacy and supermarket very close. Structure well connected to the main roads and Bellinzona.

disappointing, but at least clean

The greeting by the older receptionist was quite snippy and unfriendly. The check-in takes quite a long time.
The (large) double room is clean and fortunately faced the courtyard, so the street noise was less noticeable. The room was very clean. The air conditioning was very unpleasantly loud; unfortunately, there was no small refrigerator or coffee maker in the room. Guests must retrieve water bottles from a refrigerator that is only unlocked in the evening and is locked again by 6 AM, which I found not customer-friendly.
Breakfast costs a steep $15, and you receive exactly one cup of coffee. The orange juice was only refilled upon request, and the ham, salami, cheese, and bacon were not replenished (at 8 AM!). Uncomfortable corner for breakfast; it's a pity, as there was a garden outside with tables. The fruit salad did not look appealing, rather stale; overall, quite disappointing. Intrusive inquiries about dinner in their restaurant.

Good solution

Just outside Bellinzona, on the road to Locarno. Great parking in front of the hotel. Different types of rooms. We stayed 2 nights a week apart. The first room was small and equipped with a portable air conditioner with air discharge placed in an ajar window, the second larger and with a fixed air conditioner. In both cases the rooms were clean and the bathrooms ok. Great breakfast, both for the savory and sweet part. A particularity for those staying at weekends; the reception closes at 21.00 on Saturday and at 16.00 on Sunday. The room key, which also opens the front door, is left in a box near the front entrance. The opening code of the box is communicated via email, but a nearby phone is also available to request it if you have forgotten it. Extreme courtesy of the staff, both at reception and in the breakfast room.

Good location between between Locarno and Bellinzona

Good clean hotel with a very helpful staff. The hotel is located near to Bellinzona, there is a bus stop right next to the hotel with direct buses to both Bellinzona and Locarno.
The hotel has a restaurant and also there are many in walking distance of the hotel. The hotel also offers free Tichino pass which you can use fro free public transport and also get discounts for various other tickets.

Classy but affordable

Hotel Cereda is a few minutes from the heart of Bellinzona (with the three World Heritage castles) so a little off the beaten track. It's a real jewel both as a hotel but also, very much, as a restaurant. The modern, designer colour schemes in the rooms are just to my taste and I actually ended up stealing some of their ideas for my own home. What I love best is their lovely courtyard garden where you can enjoy the most delicious food and wine looking up at a small vineyard. It's usually a small menu selection of amazing and innovative dishes which are all freshly made. Had an asparagus mousse entree this time which was pure heaven - had never tasted anything like it. The chef also makes a most delicious pesto - he really should market it.
I've been coming here for over 5 years for an annual business event and would never consider staying anywhere else. Food and service is always excellent, the same staff (always a good indicator) and it's very affordable (top value for money). Apparently it's a bit of an insider tip as the people I work with down there have all heard of it.
