The room was clean, the staff was great. I like that I can park right outside my door, makes load and unloading a breeze.

The employees were SO friendly. Very welcoming!! The stay was nice, room was clean, and the bed was super comfy!

Very nice very quiet. No craziness which was nice it was a peaceful 4th. Really enjoyed our stay there.

"First, No Military Discount, And Then You Pull This On Me???"
I checked in late afternoon and usually enjoy staying at the smaller mom and pop type motor lodges where you can park your vehicle right outside your door. Which is very convenient. However, that was about the only thing that was convenient during my stay, and it only got worse as it went along. First thing I noticed was that their prices are just as much if not more than a major hotel chain, but they have basically zero amenities at the Stuart Motor Lodge.
I paid over $85 for one night in a very under furnished room with blank walls Also, I'm a disabled combat veteran and served in Iraq in Desert Storm. Anyways, don't expect any military discount for veterans from the Stuart Motor Lodge. They even looked at me weird when I asked if they offered a military discount. When I got on my bare room it was really warm and humid in there. Apparently they turn off the air conditioning units after each guest leaves. If you're like me, on a hot summer day after a long day on the road, you really like to walk into a nice cool room where you can just relax and unwind. Not at this place. I guess saving a few bucks on turning the units off is more important than guest comfort. When I started the air conditioner it smelled really musty and got soo bad that I went to the dollar general and bought some febreeze spray. It didn't help soo I had the window open all night. Then I couldn't sleep very well so I checked out around 4am and figured that I would hit the road because my vehicle is cool inside and doesn't smell weird. I quickly forgot all about that place until the following day when I was looking through some credit card statements and noticed that the Stuart Motor Lodge charged my card for $85 on the Wednesday that I checked in, but then charged my card for another $100 the following day. I was confused so I called the Lodge and they said that my room smelled like smoke and they found ashes in there. I told them that the room was very musty because they don't leave the air conditioners on and I had to have the window open all night. Not only that but I don't even smoke. I asked the desk clerk to please have the manager call me and she said ok. I got a call from a female who I'm assuming is the manager at the Stuart Motor Lodge and not only was she very rude to me, but basically accused me of lying about smoking in the room and refused to do anything to help make it right with. me. Now I was in the Marine Corps for a lot of years, and I can put up with just about anything, but this Devil Dog won't cast a shadow anywhere near the Stuart Motor Lodge ever again. To all my veteran brothers out there, there are much better places to stay if you find yourself in that area of Iowa, and pretty much most of them give really good military discounts. And for everyone else I say BEWARE of the Stuart Motor Lodge because they are not really in the hospitality business, they are just looking to make fast cash off of weary travelers

It was an excellent, comfortable place to stay with our pets, convenient to gas stations and places to eat and right off the freeway. Very nice people who operate it. Very clean.
